Road trip day two

We are somewhere in Nevada. We stopped to eat lunch a little early
because the sign said next road stop 100 miles.

We got a later start this morning because we had a later night than
planned last night.

We arrived in Reno around 730. After stopping to get veggie dogs,
'kraut and two cans of oly we went to the hotel to check in. That was
when we learned that all Marriott hotels require a nonrefundable $100
fee. This made our $90 dollar a night hotel less of a bargain. So, we
ended up at circus circus.

Reno is a ghost town. The average age of guests at circus circus is
north of 70. When you pick up a hotel map you can borrow a
complimentary wheel chair. Someone puked in the hallway. That said, it
was great for 30/night and they had a cute "hound hotel" for gidget.
We could check on her on our hotel room's tv. We did. After four hours
of driving, during which she napped the whole time, she just went
straight to bed.

Sawyer is having a blast. He has told us about 500 times that gidget
is in the car. He liked the hotel and jumping on the bed.

A rest stop in the sierras on our way east

Mt. Tamalpais

We took a hike up from Stinson Beach to the top of Mt. Tam and ate pancakes at a little inn. It ended up being 10 miles up and down, and took 6 hours - an ambitious attempt with a toddler in tow. But he was a trooper. He even napped on the way down.

Bad Boy Photos

Sawyer throwing a fit, and puffs at his mom and dad because they wouldn't let him jump on the couch.

Sawyer rearranging furniture.

Sawyer screaming/crying which was immediately followed by laughing/running around. This picture actually came AFTER the picture below.

Father's Day, Beach Day

Chris is traveling for work over Father's Day so we celebrated last weekend at Half Moon Bay.

Here are some of the pics.

The dudes

talking about the beach

and surfing.

This is Sawyer runing away from the water.

Here he is still pretty skeptical.

At some point he changed his mind and he ran into the water.

Happy Memorial Day

A few pics from our first visit to the Oakland Zoo.
The giraffe was the hands-down favorite. Sawyer waved at it (bottom pic).

Playing Around

More beach pics

Sawyer was a little suspicious of the beach. He didn't quite trust the sand to hold his weight, so
he was cautious about crawling on it - which was nice since it kept him in one place for pictures.
Overall, he really enjoyed it.

LA Post

Highlights of our LA trip:
  • "funny face pancakes" oatmeal pancakes in the shape of a face with ears, topped with banana and grape eyes, a banana nose and apple butter. Yum!
  • a break from cloth diapers (sorry environment)
  • a playground on the boardwalk
  • new toys from Lydia and Richard
  • sand and lots of sunshine
  • walkin' around the hotel room big boy style
  • the hotel put a pillow/sheets in Sawyer's pack and play. We hear him in the middle of the night waking up to refluff his pillow.
